Julian G – The General (Demo)
Last night Julian came by and we were playing some miscellaneous non-sense, when it occured to actually go ahead and record a full song idea. So here is a song idea he has been working on a bit the past week or so. It is a very rough quick up demo, but you get the picture. Enjoy.

I wrote this song years ago. This is the latest version, as performed/produced/engineered by the Euphonies (Ian Vargo & myself). To me, this song isĀ bitter sweet, written about a very specific time in my life. Between the twinkly elements and Ian's use of reverb during the mixing process, the result is a very spacious and dreamy soundscape, one that is quite appropriate for the innocence and naivety of the lyrical content. I particularly enjoy the point after the bridge, 1:36, where the only noticeable elements are the piano octaves, warm buzzy organ (I'm glad we used three mics!) , and filtered vocals. It has a very lonely aesthetic, just before the final chorus. 1242
This Blog will be moving soon. I'm not happy with the maximum upload size being 2MB. I apologize for the quality of this song. I had to compress it significantly in order to fit. If you'd like a better quality file, let me know.
First song
Ok, well, I know I said I would be putting up complete songs.. Here we are, first song submitted, and it's a partial acoustic demo of a song I wrote2 days ago. So sue me. When you have your own blog, you can do whatever you want with it. So parts of these lyrics I don't really understand. Let's say the theme of the week is stream of consciousness. Anyway, normally I wouldn't post something quite like this, but hey, we need content, right?
Songwriting Blog (as explained by the Reverend Jason A.)

Like most of us songwriters (or artists for that matter) we are in a perpetual dry spell. "man, I used to write so many songs like 3 years ago. Now I can't finish anything, and I'm completely uninspired and useless! What's wrong with me! Blehhh!!" We're all drama queens. Anyway, the fact of the matter is, I write many bits and pieces of songs, constantly. Creating something cohesive and complete is a different matter entirely (a writer rarely feels like his work is complete or satisfactory)
The real reason I want to contribute to this blog is so that I feel some kind of obligation to write consistent full songs, to get in the habit. Also, by exposing my work to the public, I know that the listener probably assumes that the piece is complete and expressed in the way it was meant to be, therefore I will begin to perceive it this way. I won't have the constant need to revise and rewrite. (hopefully)
Anyway, that is my selfish reason for the blog. I look forward to comments and criticisms of our work (not mine though, so help me God.)
Soon we will begin to have themes and such. These themes may be things, like "Turkey Vulture", or colors, places, seasons, etc.. This will prove to be quite interesting, as each of the writers will presumably come up with a completely different and thought provoking interpretive pieces.
Anyway, please check back regularly for new songs, pics, and whatever in the hell else we decide to put up here. Who knows, this may turn into a POG slammer fan page forum. The skies the limit!

Website launched with content coming soon.
Well, the story goes... ideas are only as good as they have the potential to be carried out. Turns out, there was a bit of delay and caused a good amount of people to come look at this site only to see nothing. Well all that is about to change. The pictures of the roadtrip are currently being uploaded. (There are ALOT).
Also, there is a new idea brought to life to this site. It will entail of "The Song of the Week". Where the various authors will post up a new song creation each week for creative and constructive feedback... as well as compliments and negative remarks of course.
We do hope you enjoy your time here and be on the look out. The content IS coming.
Thanks,
Kyle
